The diagram illustrates the process of collecting and treating rainwater for using clean water in a town in Australia.
Overall, there are five important steps in this process, beginning with collecting rainwater and ending with clean drinking water available inside people’s homes.
Firstly, when it rains, the rainwater flows from the roof to the drain which is attached to the side of each house. The stream of this rainwater continues along the drain to a water filter. Once rainwater is filtered, this water will go through a larger system called storage tanks. Here, the rainwater will be held until a later time.
From the storage tanks, the filtered rainwater will be moved to the water treatment tanks, where some chemicals are added to clean the water for residents in the town. Finally, the fresh water will be operated to each drain for being used in each household.
