The two pictures compare the current map of the small town of Islip and the proposed plan for its future development.
It is evident that the proposed plan involves several changes to the town’s layout, mainly in the area north of the main road. Additionally, the plan suggests constricting a dual carriageway that will encircle the town.
Currently, the main road divides the town into northern and southern sides. This section of the road is planned to be designated for pedestrians only, while a dual carriageway will be built to maintain the connection between other parts of the main road. The carriageway will surround the town and include a branching road leading to a new residential area in the northeast of Islip.
Furthermore, the new development plan proposes the removal of the current northern shops and the construction of a bus station, a shopping centre, a car park, and the aforementioned residential area in their place. In the southern part of the town, where is currently a residential area, new dwellings will be built. Moreover, the town’s park will be reduced in size, and a minor expansion of the school will take place.
