The maps illustrate the changes that occurred in Youngsville, New Zealand, over a 25-year period from 1980 to 2005.
Overall, the town underwent significant development during this time, becoming more urbanized with the construction of new commercial, industrial, and recreational facilities. Natural areas were reduced, while modern infrastructure increased, particularly in the eastern and southern regions.
In 1980, Youngsville was a small town with a hospital and a lake located in the northwest. Several houses were situated mainly on the eastern side near the railway station. A school was positioned south of the River Alanah, while an airport and a large woodland area were found in the southern part of the town.
By 2005, major changes had taken place. The lake was replaced by a park, and a stadium was constructed nearby. A marina was developed on the eastern side of the river. Additionally, the woodland area was removed and replaced with factories, and a warehouse and a skyscraper were built, showing clear urban growth.
