Almost 15 millions was the numbers of abroad visits by UK citizens in 1979 with a steady growth until it reached 20 millions in mid-period between 1984 and 1989. Afterwards, it jumped from 20 millions to 30 millions in a short period. The numbers grew gradually until it reach it’s peak in 1999 with more than 50 millions. The visits to UK had relatively lower growth rate across the years. At 1979, it recorded 10 millions visitors. With slight increase in numbers, it reached 20 millions in 1989. The growth rate did not witness any more acceleration. In 1999 it had less than 30 millions.
France was the most visited country by UK citizens with more than 10 millions in 1999, followed by Spain that had a little lower numbers with less than 10 millions. USA, Greece, and Turkey had the least number of UK visitors with less than 5 millions each.
