The chart displays the percentage of the total world population in India, China, USA and Japan from 1950 to 2002, with projections to 2050.
Overall, China and India dominated the other countries, but China will be overtaken by India in the future. Meanwhile, Japan and the United States of America had the least percentage throughout the period.
In 1950, the Chinese made up around 23% of the world’s population. After that, it decrease to approximately 20% in 2002; it is observed that this trend will continue till 2050, with approximately 15% of Chinese nationals left in the world. In comparison, India started the same year with approximately 15% of the total world population; however, there was an increase to around 18% of Indian in 2002. Indians will make up around 18% in 2050 surpassing China in that year.
In ‘contrast, Americans accounted for around 7% of the total world population in 1950. However, there was a decrease in Its population to approximately 5% in 2002; and this figure will be maintained in the future. Conversely, Japan’s population was less than 5% in the same year; and, it faced a significant decline to around 3% in 2002, and will continue until 2050, ending at approximately 1%.
