dear Robert,

I understand how abset you are that I didn’t attend your birthday party last weekend, for that I am truly sorry. I haven’t told anyone about this, but last week my uncle had a car accident while driving home from work and my family and I had to be at the hospital for the entire weekend to support and care for him and his family.

He will be discharged from the hospital in the next three days as his condiontion is improving after the surgery. I am thinking we celebrate a belate birthday party for you next weekend. Let’s go to your favourite steakhouse on friday and tab is on me for the night. I have a gift for you that will make it up for my absence last weekend.

I will be waiting for your response.
