Dear Mr Smith,

I’m writing this letter because I need to arrange for some time off work. So, I would appreciate if you could understand my request.

I need to take time off because I would like to go to Turin, Italy. My son lives here, so I would spend some time with him because I don’t see him since the last Christmas. He is not going to work the next week, so it could be a great opportunity to spend some time together.

I am going to be away just only for a week: from Monday to Friday. After that I will come back and I will go to work everyday. It is a promise!

I could make up for the lost time: if you want, I could do some extra work in the afternoon during the summer season. It is a pleasure for me try to find a compromise because I really need to go to Turin.

I look forward to hearing from you soon. I hope that you will understand.
