To whom it may concern,
Thank you for taking the time to consider my application to become a volunteer at Bracken Ridge Community Centre. I would love to volunteer with the young people that attend the group sessions to improve their basic literacy and numeracy skills.
I am a fully qualified teacher with over 7 years of experiences working in a varitey of educational settings. My training with Teach First (a graduate programme specialising working with disadvantaged schools) allowed me to develop skills such as paitence and empathy. I believe having these skills is super important when working with children and young adults who have their own personal struggles.
I have primarily worked in lower primary with most of my experience being in grade 2. I feel this experience would be cruical as I am able to break down key learning concepts into smaller chunks to support learning. Another one of my strengths is that I am able to make the learning fun and engaging through hands on activities. I would be able to provide all my own materials and resources to support the group.
I am available Monday – Friday for groups starting at 4pm until 7pm.
I love to learn and would feel very grateful if I was able to pass this on to these young people who need it most. If you feel as though I would be a great fit, I am happy to come for a trial whenever you seem appropriate.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesistate to ask.
Kind Regards,
Sam Quiff
