While some argue that public services are the only things that the governments need to focus on, others believe that the governments need to pay attention to arts as well. Althought pubic services are very important for our well-being, I would say that arts are not less important in our life.
On the one hand, public services, such as hospital, is very essential for our life. For instance, the COVID-19 pandemic era, a lot of people is suffering because of the disease. Unfortunately, there are many hospitals that can’t provide health services to the patient due to the lack of resources. Thus, the governments should invest more money in improving the quality of hospitals.
On the other hand, arts can connect our country to another country, people to people. Arts are a form of communication across all cultures that change our attitudes and beliefs via images, and stories. For instance, when an Indonesian is listening to a song in Japanese language, he/she can still understand the meaning of the song even he/she doesn’t know the language. The aspects of the song, such as melody, rhythm, harmony, and tempo, are the things that make him/her can understand the meaning of the song. So, it can be inferred that arts are also an important part of life in a way of communication. That’s why I agree that the governments should invest some of the money to improve arts.
In conclusion, investing more money in improving public services is important, however, the goverments should invest some too in arts since arts are not less important in our life.
