Reading books have become a controversial topic especially starting from early ages. While certain individuals hold the belief that parents and educators should encourage children to focus only on academic books, I am convinced that both amusement stories and school books is identically crucial.
On the one hand, some people argue that youngsters ought to read only educational literatures, and this is owing to expand their knowledge. In other words, if young-aged groups are accustomed to reading academic books, they will develop their cognitive functions because such literatures introduce complex concepts. A prominent example is applicable in many Japanese schools, where a myriad of generations is graduated brilliant minds. Although this claim seems to raise the understanding of children, I believe that entertainment stories must be read in leisure time.
On the other hand, reading novels that narrate an imaginative story might develop the way of how people think. When children read these books in their free time, they can explore deeper themes, such as friendship and the battle between good and evil. For instance, “Harry Poter” novel, which was written by J.K. Rowling, is one of the most fantasy stories that expands creative thinking and imagination of an individual. Thus, it can be said that not only are fictional books enjoyable, but they also raise social awareness and understanding.
In conclusion, after this essay has manifested the above-mentioned views, it can be reiterated that reading theoretical books improve cognitive and mental health, while entertainment ones are more beneficial for social perception. I firmly agree that imaginary novels are equally significant to academic ones.
