In our day-to-day life, we tend to use technology to make our lives easier in almost every aspect imaginable. Now, some people might argue that the disadvantages of technology have outweighed its advantages, which has sparked a lot of controversy across the globe.
Firstly, it is undeniable that technology has a lot of advantages and plays a big role in our daily lives. For instance, we use Google Maps to maneuver around the city or get directions to certain places. We use our phones to connect with our friends and family, which is important especially when they live far away. We also use it to make new friends, socialize, have fun, get news as soon as it comes out, or learn about the latest scientific research. Can’t go to the office? You’ve got an entire office in your bag, your laptop. Technology has played such a huge role in our daily lives that letting go of it seems impossible to most people.
On the other hand, most people can agree on the fact that technology has a lot of disadvantages, and some of them can be quite disturbing to most people. It is undeniable that addictions to technology are real; phone, laptop, and gaming addictions are very real and have destroyed a lot of people’s social and financial lives. Technology has also caused a lot of privacy concerns. Phone breaches, message leaks, and companies spying on users via laptops’/phones’ microphones are just some of the privacy concerns that people have about technology. People might even misuse technology by going to illegal websites, consuming harmful content, and promoting it to other people.
All in all, I believe that technology’s harm solely depends on how you use it. Some people will misuse technology and destroy their or other people’s lives with it. While others will use technology to learn, socialize, and make the best out of the opportunities that people in the past never had.
