Nowadays, jobseekers have many opportunities and may choose between companies of different scale. It is argued that big corporations provide more benefits and are more secure, while others prefer working for a small company. This essay agrees that, despite the negative factors, an employee will benefit more from working for a large company than for a small one.
Large corporations can offer more stability and security to their employees. They have greater time-proven experience and more developed and well-established relationships with their partners. In case of an economic crisis or a complicated political situation, big companies tend to be less affected by market fluctuations since the market depends on them more than vice versa. Therefore, for an employee, working in a corporation may be more appealing as there is a smaller chance of downsizing or bankruptcy.
Another important advantage of big businesses are immense opportunities. They consist of various departments with lots of job offers from rookie to top management positions. If there is a new vacancy, the company is more likely to promote its own employee than try to fill the position externally. So, it is easier to climb the career ladder within one company than change the workplace looking for better options. In multinational companies, it is even possible to go on an internship to another country and get new work experience.
In conclusion, even though small companies have their attractiveness, in our volatile world, large companies seem like a better option as they offer long-term job positions with many promotion opportunities.
