Band 5+: Advertising describes the business of persuading people to buy things. Advertisement, and the abbreviations advert and ad, are used to refer to printed, audio of film products that are used to sell something, e.g. I saw a funny advertisement on TV. NOT I saw a funny advertising on TV. Commercial is only used for ads on radio or TV.Some people say that advertising encourages us to buy things that we really do not need. Others say that advertisements tell us about new products that may improve our lives. Which viewpoint do you agree with?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Advertising makes us buy things that we really don’t need. That is the claim of some people that have a negative view towards advertising. But some others claim that advertising products helps us select some useful products that will help them in life.

Some people think that launching advertising campaigns over social media platforms and TV channels will have great impact over people and will make them buy things which they really don’t need. This happens because those companies use professional ways of advertising that makes the product shines in the eyes of the costumer. For example if a restaurant wants to advertise for their meals , they will make their meals bigger in the advert and with fresh ingredients. In addition to that , some companies hire football stars or film stars as they know that hundreds of those celebrities will have the desire to buy those products that their favorite stars are promoting for.

On the other hand , those who are with the claim that advertising is very significant say that without advertising , we wouldn’t know a lot of products which helped us a lot in the improvement of our lives. They say ‘ As long as we see advertisements , we are connected to the world.” People in America claim that some brands such as Macdonald’s , KFC , Pepsi and some other famous American restaurants wouldn’t be very famous if they didn’t rely on very attractive and well – planned advertising campaigns.

As a matters of fact it isn’t the argument that we should take personally. Each one has his own view. In my opinion , it’s the costumers’ choice to buy whatever they want. However, the costumer should decide on what he really wants to buy and shouldn’t be affected by the propaganda of any advertiser. In the end , it’s your life and you can do whatever you desire .

School should focus on teaching students how to be successful in the workforce and less helping them achieve academic success. To what extent you agree or disagree?
