There is a view that, school should educate students how to become successful in the workforce rather than support them achieving academic success. There are clear benefits for students, while I believe that it has more drawbacks leading to this view. I strongly disagree with this notion.
Without a doubt, when students are taught by school tutors how to become successful in the workforce. It offers several benefits. If students learn, they have opportunities to gain more practical skills, such as communication, team work, problem solving and time management. Students also start to differentiate work environment and education. They gain experience, when they participate in real sessions, presentations and work internships. As a result this makes students feel more confident and fluent in presentation and public speaking.
However, academic success is still important. Students can’t just ignore If they want to be doctors, teachers or engineering without academic knowledge they can’t deal with problems. Academic education provides strong knowledge especially in building different kinds of city infrastructure, teaching young learners and operating, detecting illness in patients. Higher academic achievement can give an access to apply abroad to universities. Students should balance between academic success and being successful in workplace.
In conclusion, although schools should prepare students with practical skills for the workforce, I believe academic success should not be neglected, as both are essential for students’ future education and careers.
