Exporting fruit and vegetables to nations where they cannot be grown or are out of season by air vehicle becoming more popular. The main benefits of this are saving time and preventing expiration. However, the key drawbacks are high price for trasportation and damaging a vulnerable products.
The primary advantage of this is saving a valuable time because air transport is faster, and there might be people who are waiting for delivering a new fruit and vegetables. Also, another advantage is that this approach save quality of products because they do not expire. Some of fruits might lost its qualities in a very short time, and other vehicle cannot deliver them before they expire. For example, transportation by ship might takes several days, while planes can do it in couple of hours.
The disadvantage of this is costs a lot of money and not every country can affort it. They might spend a large share of budget for exporting by air, which is not a good decision. The second drawback is that some products might be hurt in the baggage, because airplanes have a high velocity and there might be turbulence and shake inside. For instance, 10% of watermelons which are transported by air are hurt becouse of turbulence in baggage section.
In conclusion, increase in usage of air vehicle in exporting vegetable and fruits has number of pros such as, saving time and saving quality of products by delivering them very fast. However, there are some cons such as, an irrelevant price and making damage on products with high vulnerability.
