Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Nowadays, the worldwide number of people suffering from obesity is increasing rapidly. In this essay, the leading causes behind this phenomenon will be explored along with the discussion of potential consequences associated with this pressing concern.

This stressful situation is being driven by two primary contributing factors: unhealthy food eating habits and sedentary lifestyles. To begin with, there has been a major increase in the population that is consuming fast food regularly, resulting in gaining more calories and sugars and, subsequently, becoming obese. Correspondingly, this issue is exacerbated by inactive lifestyles because people are reluctant to play sports and physical games. To cite an instance, there have been more competitions organized for video games than physical sports such as cricket, soccer, and hockey combined in recent years, showing people’s interest.

Some inevitable and compelling repercussions of this issue are health-related problems and reduced productivity. Being overweight can lead to dysfunctional behaviour in the human body, which has dire consequences on the physical and mental health of a person. In addition, another inexorable effect of this issue is that obese individuals may require an extra amount of time to complete their work compared to ordinary people, highlighting their decreased efficiency. For example, according to a recent survey conducted by the University of Toronto, it was revealed that the productivity of obese individuals is nearly 30 percent lower compared to normal people of the same age. Extra: Overall, these effects can have negative impacts on the physical and mental well-being of a person.

In conclusion, the global increase in obesity rates is a significant concern that has many harmful effects. The underlying root causes, including poor dietary choices and a lack of physical activity, have been identified, which can have irresistible consequences on the health and productivity of individuals. If this issue continues to be neglected, it can become even more formidable
