Employees are encouraged to do their jobs less seriously if they are permitted to wear a casual dress on certain days of the week. Thus, the workers should wear professional attire. I disagree with this statement for several reasons, and considering their motivation and work performance when they wear different types of attire.
Firstly, whether dressing formally or casually, both do not have a serious impact on the employees’ work as long as they know the right time to wear it, do the job seriously, and try to finish their job on time. Thus, the company should give a particular time for workers to dress casually. Wearing a casual dress can make the employees feel more relaxed than when they wear formal attire because it is more simple to wear not as complicated as formal attire so they feel more flexible to move while doing their job. To illustrate this, big unicorn company like Grab, Gojek, and Shopee allows their employees to wear casual clothes when they work which makes them comfortable to do their tasks and responsibilities.
Next, dressing formally sometimes makes the employees feel too serious and tense even if it is just a simple meeting and or activity, while dressing casually makes the employee more flexible and relaxed during the working time. The workers will do their tasks and responsibilities better because they do have not too much pressure. In addition, comfortable dressing and working can boost the workers’ motivation while doing their tasks and responsibilities.
To sum up, working in casual attire can make the employees feel more comfortable and boost the workers’ spirit to do their job. Thus, the company should give a particular time in a week for the employee to wear casual attire.
