Some people believe that the rise in the manufacture of consumer products is harming our environment and the nature. In this essay, I will explain why this happens and what solutions can be implemented.
On the one hand, there are many negative impacts of producing goods has on our natural environment. First of all, through the process of manufacture, factories release a lot of industrial waste into the surroundings which contaminates the water source or downgrade the land. Especially, due to the high concentration of emissions such as CO2, SOx,… in the atmosphere, global warming is increasing dramatically. Secondly, producing goods requires a large area of land and amount of resources to be exploited, therefore, trees should be cut down, leading to deforestation which destroys the ecosystem and makes the air quality deteriorates. In addition, a high proportion of emissions, toxic chemicals are also released from the dead bodies of wild animals which were murdered in the process of making goods, taking their skins, bones or horns,…
On the other hand, I can suggest several ways in order to tackle the problem that production of commodity causes to the natural environment. Initially, the consumers should consider the “smart consumption”, particularly, prioritising the materials which are eco-friendly or can be used for many times like glass, tin, steel,… Consequently, we must try to cut down on utilising only-use products, for instance nylon bags, plastic bottles,… which need a long time to fully decompose and release the pollutants into the environment. Furthermore, recycling expired products is an efficient method to not only reduce waste but also save more money, aiming to curtail the consumption and from here, lessen the production of consumer goods.
In conclusion, contributing to decrease the manufacture of consumer products and hinder the impacts that it has on our nature are the responsibility of both the governments and citizens. It is crucial to raise each person’s awareness about the urgency of the problem and look forward to the brighter future of our planet.
