Band 4+: An increase in the production of consumer goods results in damage to the natural environment. Why is this the case, and what solutions are possible?

In today’s modern history, the production of consumer goods increases by a tremendous amount. Which results to the damage of the natural environment. One of the main causes is the overexploitation of natural resources, leading to excessive resource extraction, pollution, and waste generation. Deforestation, single use plastics, gas emissions plays a significant role in environmental harm.

One of the most common factors that affect the natural environment is no other than deforestation. It is an act of intentional clearing of forested land which could lead to global warming, loss of habitat, and soil erosion. However, this problem could be minimized by communities planting more trees in desolated area, recycling the usage of paper and cardboard as well as buying sustainable wood could contribute a significant amount of help for the surroundings.

The reuse of plastic products could too play a significant role in serving a good solution in the oversupply of trash that has already been accumulated. By encouraging consumer awareness in the dangers of plastic products. on how it could affect the environment, and supporting the usage of design products with longevity in mind. As well as having the governments implementing and enforcing regulations that promote environmental responsibility in manufacturing.

The awareness of gas emission also offers solution, as it is known gas emission is one of the factor that causes the greenhouse effect. Which is the process through which heat is trapped near Earth’s surface by substances known as greenhouse gases such as nitrogen oxide, sulfur oxide, and carbon monoxide. Though this problem could be approach by reducing the usage of private vehicle and using public vehicle or non-polluting vehicle.

in conclusion, addressing the environmental damage cause by the mass production of consumer goods requires inclusive approach involving recycling, government regulation, and public awareness. By working together towards these solutions, We can minimize the amount of damage in the natural environment.
