People are having a hard time reaching consensus on whether people should answer work calls at any time. To my mind, this is a negative trend that affects individuals and society.
There is no doubt that answering phone calls about work outside regular working hour or at the weekend affects their personal life directly. For one thing, besides working, people still have time to hang out with friends or take care of their family. Devoting a large amount of time working on the phone is gonna disturbed take the time they use for other activities. As a matter of fact, in many families, parents after coming home are still snowed under with work calls and leave no time for their offspring. For another, working at home through the phone can bring depression and exhaustion to workers.More precisely, works that people can discuss via mobile are intellectual work which still need a lot of thinking and brainstorming, nothing less than working in place. Therefore, swamped in answer work calls all week can make workers depleted.
To be sure, mobile phones allow people to handle urgent situations at any time. This is reasonable to the extent that sometimes there are some unexpected things that happen at work which need to be solved immediately before it gets worse , for example a virus on an important disk in an IT company. Still, situations like this are not common.
In the final analysis, despite the fact that answering workcall any time can bring some benefit, the negative impacts of this trend—such as the loss of personal time and increased mental fatigue—are more significant .For this reason, I am convinced that the advantages of being able to communicate via mobile phones anytime are not a positive effect.
