Band 7+: Argument: Older generations often hold some traditional ideas on the correct way of life, thought and behaviour. Most people argue that it is not helpful for younger generations to prepare for modern life. To what extent do you agree or disagree

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Although the elders tend to maintain long-standing practices regarding right life choices, the majority of people deny these ideas’ importance in assisting youngsters in the modern context. However, I fully oppose this argument, as these values help them prevent unfavorable situations and offer helpful information to learn from.

Firstly, failure can be avoided if one heeds adults’ advice. Compared to younger generations who are unfamiliar with many aspects of life, older generations have longer exposure to this reality. Having been through multifaceted challenges and difficulties, they possess sufficient knowledge and experiences to justify their anticipation of the consequences of an activity. For this reason, taking their advice into account helps young people to avoid negative and risky consequences, saving their time and resources for a safer path to pursue.

Nevertheless, proponents of conventional ideas might label them as old-fashioned and thus are no longer applicable to modern situations. Not only is this a stereotype, but it also diminishes the significance of traditional ways of living. Despite recent advancements in the medical field, acupuncture, which has emerged for a long time, still remains a viable treatment for contemporary muscle and nerve-related issues. As traditional beliefs widen the range of solutions to a problem and make life easier, it is of great importance to incorporate them into current life.

In conclusion, traditional life skills should not be undermined in light of the favourable path it can orient young generations towards. Moreover, these practices also serve as a source of solutions for modern problems.
