Band 6+: Around the world, rural people are moving to cities and urban areas, so populations in the countryside are decreasing. Is this a positive or negative development?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

In contemporary society, numerous individuals move from rural to urban areas, thus leading to the drop in the number of population in the countryside. Otherwise, this trend may have a positive point in terms of the urban workforce and harbour a negative one related to the pollution in cities. This essay, therefore, aims to unfold my opinion which regards this trend as a positive development, despite its negative aspects.

An idea worth mentioning is that such a trend may magnify multiple sorts of pollution in cities including air pollution and littering. This is reasoned that given the dramatic increase in the number of residents emigrating to cities, there is a plethora of activities such as daily commuting, eating and disposing. As a result, this is going to bring about tons of litter disposed and contaminated air emitted from vehicles on roads. A good illustration of this could be that children’s respiratory systems have to undergo hurts owing to absorbing the enormous amount of polluted air from the dense traffic volume. Furthermore, hardly ever can this malfunction be addressed with the crowded cities as well as populations’ demands for daily practices.

On the other hand, this trend contributes greatly to the urban workforce, then helping personnel and businesses develop their careers practically. The city is bustling and hustling relentlessly, to elaborate, hence providing job seekers with positions which are appropriate to their abilities and due remuneration. According to this theory, corporations and companies can replenish better resources in order to drive their productivity and profits. In addition, some vacancies in rural areas on account of the decrease in populations can be mended and refurbished as factories for the sake of substituting for the current ones in cities, subsequently allowing businesses to make progress without contributing to the air pollution and littering issues.

To sum up, it is integral to acknowledge the positive aspects which originate from people’s migration to urban areas, despite its negative ones.
