Band 4+: Around the world, rural people are moving to cities and urban areas, so populations in the countryside are decreasing. Is this a positive or negative development?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Nowadays, the majority of cities are increasing their area due to the increasing population. So many rural people are moving from the countryside to urban areas. That is why the population in the rural areas are decreasing and I think it has negative effects.

On the one hand, leaving the countryside can lead to a shortage of farmers and farms. Because of many people moving to the cities, there are a few people ,who can work on the farms and look after plants and agriculture. It can worsen the situation and lead to scarcity of fresh foods ,due to there being a minority working on the farms . They do not have any additional help from the government or anyone. For example, a farmer cannot do work like three farmers . Eventually, moving from the countryside to urban areas can lead to lack of natural fruits and vegetables.

On the other hand, moving to the cities from rural areas can effectively react to the environment . For example, if rural people leave the countryside, they allow the city to broaden and in order to extend the city, people cut off the trees and destroy the forest which leads to destruction of nature. For example, in Europe some countries broaden their areas in order to create homes for a huge population which greatly affected nature and due to deforestation and other detrimental things they killed almost all species of birds which live there. If people had not moved to the city , it would not have happened .

In conclusion, if people leave the countryside and move to the city , they greatly damage the environment and animals also this action leads to scarcity of natural products such as vegetables and fruits.
