Positive And Negative

Band 5+: Around the world, rural people are moving to cities and urban areas, so populations in the countryside are decreasing. Is this a positive or negative development?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

In the modern world, the decision of choosing to live in more developed cities rather than rural areas has been prevalent. This had inevitably led to a declined population at the countryside. Some people argue that such change should be considered as beneficial to society , while others believe it can have more negative influence. From my point of view, i urge people to evaluate reasons behind both argument before reaching a final judgement.

Starting off with the beneficial development that will be likely to caused by having more people living in cities. Firstly, the national economy will benefit from a larger central workforce.People will be more likely to find better jobs in cities where they can applied their skills and contribute to the growing national GDP to their maximum. Meanwhile, as there are greater job opportunities in urban areas , the number of unemployment in the country will be reduced. Thus, government save more son welfare spending while receiving more tax revenue from newly employed workers.Furthermore, having a greater population in more developed cities means that more citizens are able to enjoy the myriad cultural diversity .They will be expoed to people all around the world in urban cities allowing them to keep a more open mind and learn greater range of cultures. These are extremely useful and meaningful for individuals.

On the other hand, there are some risks of having declining population at the rural regions. Most importantly , greater population in citieswill lead to greater congestion and pollution caused. More people will be driving cars that can release more pollutants to the environment . Furthermore, the country might suffer a declining agricultural industry if farmers are leaving rural areas. This can be extremely damaging as the level of production of agricultural products might suffer a shortage in the marke. Thus, the government might be forced make greater expenses on importing foreign goods.

In conclusion, the positive development including greater job opportunities and self-development citizens are able to obtain moving to urban cities seem to outweigh the negative developments. Despite the fact that lower agricultural production and greater pollution will be caused , people should still be encouraged to move to cities considering the benefits.
