In recent years, there has been a sparking debate in society about if art should be compulsorily included in high school. Some people might contend that it is unnecessary to have art subjects in school since it might undermine students’ personal growth. However, I firmly believe that art subjects are essential for comprehensive personal growth and infrustracture may benefit from it.
It is undenible that focusing too much on art subjects might be detrimental to other science courses’ academic performance which can enhance competency and competiveness in terms of university application or work searching. Nevertheless, embracing art subjects can embark students’ art aptitude, boardening their understanding on beauty; thereby consolidate their knowledge base comprehensively. Merely emphasizing science subjects studying may lead students lack understanding people’s emotion and hinder social connection, while art and social science subjects can be the compensate; thereby foster the growth of students holisticly. Moreover, academic performance is not the only indicator under the current assessment system of university or firms, while communication skills and asethic understanding are included. Therefore, learning painting and drawing would not adversly effect individuals’ compentency; on the contrary, it can enhance overall personal competiveness and help student grow comprehensively.
Secondly, embracing art courses in high school can improve the aesthic value of the infrastuacture and the products in both emperical and imemperical ways. On the one hand, by sparking students’ interests in art, some students may choose products design, industrial design or archetecture as their majors, enhancing the high quality supply of professional employers. On the other hand, art-related lessions can improve the aesthic standard or threshold, improving the expectation on the products and buildings; thereby, with the ascend demand on design, producers and archetects will design high aesthic products and well looking buildings. Hence, by the two ways, having art courses can be beneficial to our society.
In conclusion, although some critics argue the disadvantage of having too much art courses, compulsory art lessions are still contain necessicity, since it can benefit students’ personal growth in terms of improving their compentencies and competiviness and it can improve supply quality of products and buildings.
