Thus, AI-powered machines often have to rely on infallible artificial prompts and be programmed by humans to perform their function efficiently, lacking the capability to make autonomous decisions and emulate human thoughts. For this reason, an excessive overdependence on AI to fulfill previous human roles in professions demanding such proficiency can give rise to grave ramifications. To illustrate, were we to employ AI as a judge or policymaker, people would suffer from unjust decisions and poor legislation formations. This increase in immoral rulings and poor decisions would bombard and decrease the overall quality of life for people.
That said, some proponents still show their subscription to the complete replacement of humans by AI. They often cite the fact that as humans often pale in comparison with AI machines when it comes to unmatched efficiency and expertise, they should be superseded completely by AI, even in emotionally and intuitively demanding professions. However, as mentioned above, still in its infancy, AI lacks the capacity to emulate human thoughts and feelings. While it is true that AI is superior to normal humans in terms of expertise and background knowledge, blindingly incorporating AI into such fields without any considerations shown for its limitations regarding emotional and independent decision-making capabilities risks compromising the overall merits that AI offers. From my vantage point, the middle ground between AI and humans should be found with the help of tireless research efforts thanks to the collaboration between professionals and governments, thereby providing the springboard for the best outcomes, be it boosted quality of life or societal development.
