Band 5+: As a result of tourism, many historical buildings and sites are being damaged beyond repair. What are the reasons and what could be done to prevent this?

It is a painful issue that numerous historical establishments are faced disastrous circumstances of existing due to various causes, such as their dilapidated conditions or poor government support . In this essay possible measures to avoid negative effects of tourism on historical places will be clearly discussed.

Evidently, tourism has already become a branch of entertainment and self-development that not only demonstrates positive effects on a person’s widening horizons, but also demerits on the situation with historical heritage. Firstly, many buildings are becoming older and older and need a capital refurbishment due to the time requirements. Secondly, the authority usually does not take care about these important places based on financial problems. Additionally, some government officials do not desire to improve the conditions of the historical places or restore them generally as they suppose other problems more crucial related to health, for example.

Undoubtedly, that there are some solutions that can be made to improve the situation with historical buildings. The first way to prevent the development of these difficulties is to apply radical and severe measures by creating high penalties for the responsible representatives in this sphere in order to provide appropriate conditions for these places to remain. It can be a motivating factor for them to take the duties more carefully. Furthermore, a certain amount of travellers should be allowed to visit popular attractions. The lower percentage of globetrotters might reduce the drawbacks of the tourism. Moreover, some extra fees for the entrance can help to save money for the refurbishment itself.

In conclusion, tourism introduces a negative impact on the historical buildings. To start with, the poor state of the buildings and the absence of the government guidance might lead to the disappearing of the values objects at all. However, necessary actions, such as high penalties or limited number of visitors, can influence on the situation.
