Due to international development, the phenomenon of living individually or in small family units is growing rapidly. This essay will explain two main reasons behind this trend and suggest several impacts that this trend leads to.
While explanations for this situation vary, most of them are rooted in the generation gap and people’s modern lifestyle. Initially, many of the young generation are focusing on their own life more than taking care of their family and relatives, which leads to the fact that people tend to take care of their career, their health and their small families. What is more, the differences in a person’s opinion and outlook compared with one’s from separate generations can result in a conflict between them. For example, when Gen Z spend most of their time on the Internet and social media and stay alone at home, millennials and Gen X would love hanging out with their peers to enjoy memorable moments.
There are several either positive or negative impacts on the community. Those merits are that young people are becoming more independent and decisive when they have to decide to choose the suitable option for their life by themselves. In other words, these individuals could gain more experience after learning from their previous choices for the smallest things like buying food and clothes to bigger things like choosing or buying a house. On the other side, family members who live too separate from each other can have barriers in taking care of and keeping up with the others. That is, people stuck in difficult find it so solitary and severely hard to overcome the obstacles when they have to be on their own.
In conclusion, the generation gap and modern lifestyle play a big role in leading to the rising trend. However, the overall impact of this phenomenon on society is largely beneficial, it encourages adults to become more independent and confident.
