While space tourism may be a new form of recreation for leisure people, it is important to consider the implications of such travel.
On one hand, space tourism would be a ground-breaking innovation for humans to enjoy planetary sites and explore the Solar System itself. For example, people could visit the moon and see the monumental mark left by Neil Armstrong, the first Man to walk on the moon. Also, this can also be considered as a business venture which could help in deriving demand for more aerospace engineers and scientists.
However, on the other hand, the cost for space tourism may be high due to certain costs such as rocket fuel, making the astronaut suits, supply of oxygen, time period of the trip itself and the weight of the passenger. There is also the safety concern as space always comes with risks which could mean a small mishap could change the very fate of the trip itself, implying that there would be waivers signed and possible liabilities for the space travel company itself.
With the current technology advancement for AI, there is little doubt on the progress made in terms of innovative technology in space. If the current technology does not gain lower average costs over the long-term, it would be difficult for companies like Space X to make a certain margin of profit to commercialize for leisure.
Therefore, while considering the advancement of technology, space travel is likely to become a leisure option but in the near future.
