At one time most people have the ability to stitch their clothes and do many other things like any repairing in their houses. Today however this type of abilitty is becoming rare in many countries.
One main reason for this is the technological advancements because these developments in science has created fast working devices. This is the major cause of this change that is happening in our country. In other words where people used to do their simple works in days for example making their clothes or repairing their things but now adays people are dependent on technology because these works can be done in short time. and people don’t have much time to spend time on learning skills.
Another cause is the rise of mass production. Readymade products are available in the market mostly people simply buy their clothes and things rather than stitching or repairing things at home.
In my country this trend is quite visible. Most households rely on the hired help for even basic repairs. Only People know how to fix things or sew themselves. However, in some rural areas these skills are somewhat preserved due to limited access of technology. Moreover, the modern education system is also involved in this change. Education system only focusses the technological and academic subjects. As a result, younger generation grew up without exposure to these crafts.
In conclusion I believe that fast gadgets and busy lifestyle are the main reason behind this and also in my country as well. While this trend is strong in urban areas of my country while some rural communities still have these valuable abilities.
