Such a term as ADHD is commonly heard and diagnosed nowadays among people all ages. While some stick to a view that this disorder is mistakenly used to justify odd behavior, others argue that ADHD requires serious professional attention. My opinion on this matter supposes that a health problem like this one can only be diagnosed by qualified doctors and suggests personal awareness.
Social media and online platforms can be one thing to blame for distorted image of poor mental health. When millions of phycology amateurs discuss their problems on the Internet, no wonder misinformation spreads. Thus, other online users get wrong perception of an issue that is later used to make excuses. It is significantly easier to call the lack of discipline a medical problem than to actually do the work. Moreover, the tendency to simplify a complex problem makes people guess whether or not they have it if only one of the symptoms is visible. For instance, ADHD is generally described as an overactive behavior with a lack of concentration on one topic with other symptoms that are deeply rooted, but people assume they are diseased due to a lot of energy.
I believe that every disorder or disease cannot be found by an ordinary person. Doctor possess professional knowledge to define the issue and help the patient cope with it. Additionally, it is easy to differentiate if somebody really struggles or just wants to show off and get compassion from others. Taking ADHD as an example, strong struggles cannot form in a few years, they are likely to be linked to childhood situations. In the former case, it is evident that the person uses ADHD as a cover from not wanting to work, and the latter demonstrates an authentic trouble.
To conclude, unqualified individuals frequently avoid solving problems by using a medical term. However, true symptoms are always easy to spot. I believe that misusing real phycological problems needs to be stopped for the sake of humans’ health, and people should monitor what really causes their behavior.
