It is always said that the first impression on someone is the best to have initial judgement when meeting others. I disagree with this view since, in most cases, such kind of judgements might give limited or unoriginal information, which prevents us from seeing true character.
On the one hand, first impressions do offer certain advantages in some situations. In the first few minutes of meeting someone, we guess some things positively such as, their appearance, body language, mindset or their outfit. For example, in a job selection, a candidate who communicates clearly is likely seems to be reliable.
On the other hand, there are also some drawbacks to relying on first impression. Initially, people often feel nervous and confused when they are meeting with someone new, which allows them to not respond with their true personality. However, a naturally kind person might behave shyly in unfamiliar situations. Secondly, first impressions are sometimes clouded by unconscious bias related to voice tone or appearance.
In conclusion, although first impressions can provide initial indication, I believe they are not reliable information to completely judge someone. In my opinion, real judgement requires spending time with the person and testing their behaviors in different situations.
