It is a generally agreed upon that being a celebrity, such as actors or professional athlete, is beneficial in manyways, but it can also introduce many challenges. This essay believes that the profession brings more good than harm.
An individual may benefit from being a public figure in many ways. Most notably, the profession offers a very high financial stability, and most celebrities are able to live an economically privileged life. It is known that celebrities are highly paid; even a few seconds of appearance could earn them millions. As long as their relevance is maintained, they will never face a financial struggle. Moreover, the profession grants an individual many career opportunities, even ones outside of media. Their recognizability is a great capital; for instance, a well-known tennis player can start a sports equipment business and immediately attract customers.
Despite its financially lucrative nature, some may contend that the profession has several drawbacks. Firstly, most public figures have limited personal life; everywhere they go, people would disturb them because they want photos or autographs. Secondly, because celebrities receive a very high amount of attention, all of their actions are subjected to criticism. This can be emotionally exhausting. These challenges, however, are manageable, and many celebrities are able to maintain a healthy lifestyle. For example, they may wear a disguise in public to reduce recognizability, disengage from social media entirely outside of their work, and find trusted emotional support.
In conclusion, while some aspects of personal life may have to be sacrificed, being a celebrity is ultimately more beneficial because of the financial stability and career opportunity it provides.
