Business in modern society tends to emphasize that their products are the first invented. This is because new products attract more attention and people are more willing to try them, furthermore, it’s a reasonable way to higher the price of it. From my perspective, it has a negative impact on the society due to the misleading thinking it might bring to the public.
First, if a product is new, it might attract more attention from the public. People nowadays are willing to embrace new developments. The more attention it gets, the more purchase it will be. That’s what the developers want. Moreover, the public tolerates new things to make mistakes, leading to more chances to try and error. Secondly, new products may trigger one’s curiosity, everyone is afraid of being out of date if they don’t get the latest things, so emphasis on the new feature increases the willingness to try, this trend also benefits the business, making sure that they earn the profits by launching out products, which might not be new in some way.
Last but not least, it’s the strategy of marketing, which the company can set a high price for their products because they were renovated. For example, Apple, which is a well-known worldwide company keeps releasing new technologies each year, meanwhile increasing the prices and hoping their customers to change their phones annually, however, in fact, the phone they launched didn’t seem to show much revision.
As for me, claiming the goods are new has drawbacks to the society. It’s immoral to cheat consumers and this will lead to a vicious cycle in the market, and after all no more people will buy the products from that company.
To sum up, whether to claim things are new or not is a dilemma, companies all want their products selling like hotcakes, however, the truth outweighs anything, being honest is the fundamental thing that a businessman must show to their customers.
