The number of vehicles especially car was increasing rapidly in many cities over the world in the past 30 years. The high number of cars had been creating traffic congestion. In this essay, I try to describe my opinions about that statement and how government’s way to control citizen from using their vehicles.
In my point of view, many traffic jams recently are reasonable. It is because the rapid growth of population encourage car sale growth. Furthermore, there are still many highways with low quality of traffic management. For instance, in my hometown, I can reached over 3 hours to go to another city with distance less than 80 km. The highways have few of traffic light, round-about, and pavement for cyclist and pedestrians. The low quality of infrastructure always cause traffic congestion.
Moreover, in rush hour, huge traffic jams are sometimes unavoidable. I often see long tailback and gridlock when I go to the office. Especially, when there is an obstruction, it will appear long queue and the stoppage frequently takes around 10-15 minutes or more. That is why I commute to work daily by bus now.
However, I believe governments can take big part of controlling the amount of car using. Rules must be made by showing the pollution rate measurement to the citizen. So, it will discourage people from using their cars. Beside that, the rule can be supported by measuring the accident which police must pull over the driver to manage the contraflow.
Based on the explanation above I can conclude that the statement is possible true due to the fact of high population number. I hope the government can manage this issue by providing rules with reasonable data.
