It is believed by some that requiring all parents to take a parenting course is essential in order to properly raise a healthy generation of children. I strongly agree with this statement because this decision would benefit both parents and society.
First of all, all parents must take courses about raising children, since parenting is the most difficult and responsible job. Majority of people become parents without having the necessary knowledge and skills for it. It happens because in the modern world people rarely live in big families and cannot learn about parenting from their grandparents. In result, young mothers and fathers act intuitively and often make mistakes, which may cause a negative influence on a child’s development, both physical and mental. For instance, in countries where mandatory courses for parents have been introduced, the percentage of child abuse has decreased.
Second of all, the introduction of obligatory courses for parents will have a positive impact on society. Well-prepared parents will raise a healthier, more educated, and more responsible generation. When parents know how to develop kids properly, how to deal with difficulties, and how to shape their character, children grow up more confident, disciplined, and socially adaptive. In result, social problems such as psychological issues and crimes among minors decrease. For example, in Sweden, where similar courses are actively supported by the government, there is the lowest percentage of violence against children.
In conclusion, I personally agree with the opinion that mothers and fathers should be required to take a course that prepares them to be good parents, because it would reduce the proportion of child abuse and would bring a positive impact to society by decreasing the number of crimes.
