A lot of children nowadays have to pass exams at school starting from elementary school and ending at the age of 18. This essay will demonstrate how tests might badly affect children’s unstable mental health, but also will show that such challenges may influence in a good way by extending pupils’ academic knowledge.
It is no secret that passing exams is an extremely stressful and sometimes even traumatic experience. Being anxious about the results and feeling not as intelligent as your peers might lead to lower self-esteem, especially when it comes to children’s unstable mental health. For instance, there are plenty of schools all over the world where professional school psychologists work. This is a consequence of pupils having mental breakdowns because of the unstoppable tests and exams, which cause pressure not only at school, but also at home. As parents nowadays are pretty demanding, children become more and more scared to disappoint them with bad marks.
On the other hand, exams are made not to frighten students, but to make them concentrate more on their studies. While preparing an exam, teachers usually try to find out the knowledge gaps in order to fill the missing information or just to know which topic was not clear for children. That’s how teachers can improve to make education more efficient for students. For example, some schools that conduct tests everyday result in graduating the most successful students. That is because pupils’ achievements were constantly checked and teachers could make more effort in educating.
In conclusion, the modern education system requires great effort from children by passing the exams almost everyday. Although these actions might cause a lot of psychological difficulties because of the pressure, many students are grateful for having a lot of tests as they resulted in achieving success in their final exams.
