It is argued that television is the main reason why young generation currently has poor education quality and TV shows cannot be a qualitative alternative for books as a learning gadget. It is agreed with the idea that television cannot take the place of books one day. This essay will discuss, first of all, limitation of television in daily life of children due to the fact that it limits their creative thinking, secondly, the opportunity that books give children to learn words’ spelling right.
To begin with, television programs like “Dora the Explorer” and “Blue’s Clues” limit the imagination of kids. How it works: it can be seem that they give time and chance to response the questions, but eventually they show the ready-made answers. And, in general, children do not really focus on education when they watch TV. Film adaptations of books give people information only as a ready-made visual and audio format, whereas books give the opportunity to interpret the meaning and intent of the words and imagine characters and all the other aspects as the person want.
Afterwards, by reading specific words and phrases used in various sentences children learn how to write and use them properly, and this is going to make their speech more competent, interesting and noble. In addition, scientists have shown that turning the page, which is a tactile action, helps in remembering information.
To sum up, television is good for leisure than learning tool. It is predicted that it will be better television remains just for entertaining and books of different genres will be the tool in all-round education.
