Some people think that watching TV instead of reading books would lead children to be less-educated. This essay disagrees that television cannot enhance childrens’ knowledge as well as books do. Firstly, TV programmes, which are conducted in foreign languages, could contribute to learning new languages. Secondly, educational TV programmes give a lot of opportunities to learn substantial information through audio and video examples.
On the one hand, foreign TV programs significantly develop their knowledge of other languages. While juveniles are watching TV programmes,which are in the foreign language, they are not only developing their listening skills, but also enhancing their vocabulary and raising the awareness of standard convention of new language.For instance, my father’s proficiency in Russian was contributed through Russain television.Although child is not able to fully learn the new language through TV, it is the funniest and effective way to do so.
Moreover, educational TV programmes are the great tool for viewers to receive a lot of valuable information through auditory and visual examples. Obviously, not only juveniles, but also adults learn new things effectively through visual information rather than textual. The educational TV programmes such as “National Geographic”, “BBC” introduce viewers to the basics of geography and provide insightful information about life. Receiving a new knowledge through text can be tedious sometimes, however, visual content is much fascinating to watch and learn for children.
In conclusion, television might be a great source to improve your knowledge as while watching TV you are not only boosting your language skills, but also advancing your awareness through visual content.
