Some people believe that children spend too much time on TV and computers. However, nowadays, some young people use these devices for educational purposes, while others simply waste time. This is a real debate, and I will discuss both perspectives along with my own opinion.
On the one hand, many kids and teenagers use computers and phones only for watching movies, videos, or playing various online and offline games. Nevertheless, some children utilize their gadgets to enhance their educational skills, explore new and fascinating subjects, and even learn different languages. For instance, today, many teenagers are learning IT or graphic design for free through YouTube, Telegram, and other social media platforms using their tablets and computers. Moreover, after gaining knowledge in these fields, they can work as programmers or designers. As a result, AI, IT, and software technologies are advancing rapidly. These are meaningful ways to spend time on digital devices.
On the other hand, children between the ages of 6 and 12 often spend their free time on unimportant activities like watching TV shows, sports, or short videos. Consequently, by the time they reach their teenage years, they tend to focus on non-essential content instead of engaging in research or productive learning, which leads to time wastage. In my opinion, it is crucial to address this issue early on. Parents and even schools should strictly regulate children’s screen time.
To conclude, while it is beneficial for children to use computers and TV, it is essential to do so in moderation and for the right purposes.
