Some individuals claim that older school children should learn a lot of subjects to access more knowledge, while others believe that they should learn a limited number of subjects in detail. In this essay, I will discuss both views and give my opinion that students should pay attention to grasping the main point of the lessons and applying them practically.
On the one hand, some people think that students should learn a large number of subjects because students can attain more knowledge. When students study a wide range of subjects, they can answer various questions if they are asked. In more detail, learning a variety of subjects, which provides them a lot of knowledge in different fields. As a result, in the future, with the large amount of knowledge, they can easily solve numerous problems they face because they have already learned about it. For example, in Ha Noi, there is a special school in which educates students in many different subjects and provides them with a large number of moral and cognitive lessons. The implication is that their students grow up and become famous people because residents admire their potential and achievements. Therefore, they can contribute to society by researching science and inventing modern devices.
On the other hand, some people claim that children learn a wide range of subjects, which is not important and they prefer to learn only a few subjects but in detail. Because of learning a subject in detail, students can have a deep understanding in these subjects. Some children want to become a genius in a field they want so that they only study this subject which can help them in the future. Additionally, if students study a few subjects, they will have more time to attend practical lessons which help them gain life experience and give them a lot of unforgettable memories such as participating in teamwork projects and growing quality relationships. For instance, in Viet Nam, some schools turn the number of main subjects into only five and add some experienced lessons for students. Consequently, students can master their favorite subjects and remain loving studying.
In my opinion, I agree with the second view. Firstly, nowadays, forcing children to learn the subjects they do not prefer is not efficient. Some jobs demand a certain amount of knowledge to do, if the child wants to become a mechanic, they need to focus on math and physics. Secondly, some students can become stressed or pressured if they access too much knowledge. Some students cannot remember a large amount of knowledge in a particular time. If they suffer from work overload, they can have some brain and health problems.
In conclusion, although learning a variety of subjects and studying a few subjects in detail also bring some benefits, I believe that students should study a few subjects in detail, which is better than the other. Finally, students can improve themselves and contribute to their society.
