It is argued that children who are raised in families with a small income rate are better prepared to handle adulthood life problems than children that come from families where the parents have a high income rate. This essay agrees that young adults who come from wealthy parents are not as well prepared for adult life problems as they come from low income families. Firstly, children raised in poverty have better problem solving skills; secondly, they are more responsible with money and are better aware of the value of it.
Children who are brought up in families where the parents have lower incomes already learn early on to deal with disappointments and restrictions around money. They have to be creative and make well considered choices if there is something they want which costs a lot of money. These experiences help them to deal better with stress, setbacks and insecurities in adulthood. A great example of this is their ability to save money and have an emergency fund to prepare for unexpected costs.
Furthermore, these children know having money isn’t for everyone and early-on learn the value of money. They understand that hard work is needed to achieve something and are more aware of their expenses. This makes them more responsible as adults, not only financially but also personally as they rather save their money in case of emergencies instead of spending it all. An example of this is that children who grew up in poverty don’t have parents to fall back on and really have to take care of themselves.
In conclusion, children from low income families are better aware of the risks of losing money and therefore have better problem solving skills. In addition, they are more responsible and better at saving at they are conscious about costs and the value of money.
