Band 6+: Competitiveness is a positive quality for people in most societies. How does competitiveness affect individuals? Is it a positive or negative trend?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Nowadays, our societies have become more competitive. Many people think that this is a positive factor that inspires individuals to improve themselves. From my perspective, I fully agree with this opinion.

To begin with, competitiveness can be high-pressure to individuals. First of all, employers can gain a large amount of unnecessary stress by facing a competitive level. It can provide a culture of competition that increases jealousy, envy. particularly when people realize that they’ve been treated unfairly. This atmosphere can create a toxic work environment, contributing to stress, anxiety, and burnout. Moreover, a pressure to win may lead individuals to do anything at any cost. Colleagues are predicted to use negative tactics to protect their position against others within the company.

On the other hand, competitiveness is regarded as a necessary element for personal improvement. Firstable, competitiveness motivates individuals to achieve excellence in their endeavors. When competing with others, people are encouraged to develop various skills and maintain consistent performance until they reach their goals. Examples involve athletes who aim to outperform their opponents and win national or international events. Additionally, people with a competitive mindset are able to push themselves beyond their comfort zones. By facing the disappointment and unpredictability that comes with competition, they can gain plenty of experiences and develop into more capable individuals.

In conclusion, despite some drawbacks, competitiveness offers significant benefits to individuals. Rather than lacking motivation, it is more advantageous for people to stand out of their comfort zone. However, it is important to maintain a balance and avoid becoming overly competitive
