Band 6+: Countries should try to produce all the food for the population and import as little food as possible.

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Nowadays, importing food is an essential aspect of numerous countries. However, some people believe that instead of relying on the imported food, we should produce all the food we need locally. It might be a viable idea in certain circumstances such as boosting a country’s economy. Nevertheless, it is not always feasible to produce food locally due to geographical barriers. Therefore, I believe that importing food is crucial for countries.

On the one hand, producing food inside the country is beneficial as it helps the country strengthen its global position. If a country can grow sufficient food, it does not have to rely on imported food. Moreover, producing food locally creates a range of employment opportunities. For instance, if farmers produce abundant food locally, more people will work on farms. In addition, it plays a crucial role in contributing to a local economy.

However, a lot of countries usually suffer from bad weather condition and lack of suitable lands for growing food locally. For example, in some countries, weather is very hot or very cold, making production of local food challenging. These countries need to import certain types of food that cannot be grown there. Moreover, sometimes it is more affordable to buy food from other places than to make it locally due to high expenses to sustain plants with good weather condition artificially. Furthermore, some countries have more essential industries than farming. For instance, tourism and technology play a crucial role in several countries’ economy, take Italy, every year tourists more than its population visit this country. This country can make money from these areas and buy the food they need from others. So, it is not always necessary to grow everything by themselves.

In conclusion, even if growing food in the country is a practical way of avoiding dependence on other countries, not every country can do it all the time. Hence, I believe importing food is sometimes necessary and acceptable.

Countries should try to produce all the food for the population and import as little food as possible.

There is a common view that all the food people consume should be produced in the local area, and less food should be delivered from other countries. I wholeheartedly disagree with this view, since this tendency leads not only to decreased communication between countries but also to financial burden and wastefulness. To begin with, not […]

Many countries thought that children have to do homework in their free time while other say children should do more outdoor activity. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

There is an ongoing debate about whether students should be given homework every day or have more free time after school. Although homework can provide additional practice, which can be helpful for students’ progress, I believe that school hours are intended for education, while time after school should be used to pursue children’s own interests. The government spends about 220 million pounds a year supporting museums and galleries in the UK, and a similar amount subsidizing the visual and performing arts. This is a huge sum to spend on minority interests, and the money would be better spent on more important things. It should be up to the people who enjoy cultural attractions to pay for them. What are your views?

Annually, the UK government spends a large amount of money on supporting the cultural and artistic activities. Some people argue that the government should allocate funds to more critical areas, while the cost of cultural entertainment should be paid by individuals. In my view, I don’t fully agree with this perspective. On the one hand, […]

Some experts suggest that teaching children to code from a young age is as essential as learning to read and write, while others argue that it narrows the curriculum and stifles creativity. Discuss both perspectives and give your own view.

Many individuals arguing about teaching coding in schools that can be beneficial for students, while others believe that it will disturb learners from other subjects like arts and humanities, stifling creativity. Some people believe that it is important for parents to read or tell stories to their children. Others say that in the modern world, parents don't have to do this because children have so many other sources for stories, like books, movies and TV.

Nowadays, there is an ongoing debate about weather parents should tell stories to their children, while the opponents of this statement believe that is unnecessary because in modern times there are many others sources, such as books, tv, and movies. From my point of view, even thought children can watch a wide range variety of […]
