In today’s world, chemical additives play an essential role in the food industry, and they are also used to ensure that they can be kept for a longer time. This essay shed a light on both sides of the issue and provide a number of evidence. In my point of view, the potential dangers from these additives are greater than their benefits.
To begin with, preserving meat and increasing the sale rate are considered as the beneficial points. Firstly, artificial flavors are being used in order to make meals more appealing and eye-catching. Consequently, people are tempted to buy even though they did not like it previously, leading to a noticeable growth in sales. Secondly, preserving food for a longer period of time is indeed crucial recently. Additionally, not all kind of food are available to everyone, so using additives not only allows to consume food from distant places but also extended the shelf life.
On the downsides, these kinds of additives have the worst effects on our health. Toxic elements that used in food can destroy the valuable nutrients such as calcium, vitamins, and proteins. Since these nutrients are critical for our body, their deficiency can lead to various diseases. For example, studies have shown that the number of cancer cases had increased by up to 20% recently. The more chemical additives we consume in each meal, the greater the risk of health problems.
In conclusion, despite the benefits of these additives, I firmly believe that the health issues arising from these hazardous elements are irreversible. While it may be unlikely to completely stop using them, I hope that people will take an action and strive to incorporate more organic food in their daily meals.
