There is a rising discussion nowadays whether the demerits resulting from the use of chemicals in the process of food production and preservation exceed the merits, or not. In my opinion, putting chemicals in food is way more dangerous in comparison with healthy fresh food.
From a broad perspective, using chemicals in food production could have some advantages. Firstly, they gave food a delicious taste which makes food more appealing for children. Secondly, chemicals allow food to last longer without the need for refrigeration. Lastly, food chemicals aid in fastening the process of food production which saves time for those who cannot afford much time for cooking. For instance, Statistics reveal that using chemicals in food production and preservation saves fast food factories tons of money every year and helps in nurturing the economy of each country.
Although using some chemicals in food is not totally forbidden by governments, it could have some catastrophic side effects. Chemicals in food are considered pre-cancerous materials which could lead to many diseases such as cancer, diabetes, and heart and lung syndromes. Not only do they affect the different body organs but also they are the main reason for morbid obesity which is the disease of this era and will eventually lead to death. For example, in 2021, there was research published in The Times revealed that 25% of death factors are related to poor food habits.
In conclusion, the dangers that come from using chemicals in food production are way more than their benefits. I believe that people should go for other alternatives to keep themselves safe and healthy. The governments should raise awareness of this issue through campaigns and media and also force some legal requirements to decrease this phenomenon.
