Opinions are divided on whether people should work at a job they really like or prioritize making a lot of money. Personally, although earning a lot of cash helps meet one’s financial demands, I believe they are by far eclipsed by career stability and mental value when working at a job you enjoy.
First and foremost, people always get motivated when pursuing their dream career. It goes without saying that encountering challenges and obstacles during work is inevitable. Therefore, maintaining motivation is very important because it helps create energy for everyone to overcome them without being bored and exhausted. As a result, it allows them to pursue their career for a long time and gradually climb the career ladder. Take my stepbrother for example, he had a dream of becoming an accomplished music producer since he was knee-high, so he decided to pursue it. He initially faced many difficulties, such as learning complicated knowledge of music theory, financial problems, and finding a way to promote himself as well as his music products etc. With passion and motivation, he spared no effort to pursue his dream by participating in talent shows and expanding relationships. Finally, he has achieved certain successes in his career.
Beyond that, working at a job you enjoy helps individuals maintain good health condition. Earning a lot of money is a goal for many people, however, doing so sometimes may force them to work excessively and do things that they do not really enjoy. If this situation happens for a long period, they may feel stressed and exhausted, which affects their health both physically and mentally. For example, in the past, I used to work in a sales position in a multinational corporation. Even though this job enables me to make more money thanks to the commission fee, I was chased by high KPI each month. Hence, it always puts me under high pressure and made me miss taking care of my wellness. Eventually, I decided to quit that position.
In conclusion, I strongly believe that the benefits of working at a job you enjoy are superior to a well-paying job. However, I think that choosing the former or the latter will depend on each person’s preferences.
