Nowadays, it is often argued that children’s use of smartphones should be limited. I strongly agree with this opinion and believe that parents should closely monitor their children’s usage of smartphones and other technological devices in daily life.
First of all, I believe that instead of relying on smartphones, parents should spend more time reading books with their children to foster intellectual development. Statistics show that many parents use smartphones and other technological devices to occupy their children throughout the day. For example, while parents are outside attending to important tasks or eating, they often use smartphones or iPads to keep their children entertained, allowing them to manage their urgent responsibilities. As a result, children spend time with electronic devices instead of engaging in quality time with their parents. Therefore, it is crucial to provide children with a more intellectually stimulating and healthy environment as they grow up.
Furthermore, apps on smartphones can negatively impact children’s cognitive development. Since smartphones have numerous apps and features, without parental restrictions, children might accidentally access harmful apps, leading to an unhealthy development process. For instance, if a smartphone contains 18+ content, children might be exposed to or search for similar harmful content, which could adversely affect their development.
To conclude, I firmly believe that children’s smartphone use should be restricted, particularly by their parents, to protect them from the excessive harmful effects of smartphones during their early development.
