Band 6+: Education should be free to low-income families to help them in the long run. To what extent do you agree or disagree ?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

In today’s fast-paced world, the leader of the country offers numerous opportunities for admission to study. Moreover, these chances contribute to the country’s overall development, and the number of graduates is steadily increasing. For underprivileged families, education should be free to assist them in the future. While making education free for low-income families may prevent positive changes, I partly disagree with this view for some reasons.

One reason for my viewpoint is that making education free for poor people leads to significant financial pressure on the government and could lead to a reduction in the budgets of other fields. Also, it could lead to a decline in the quality of teaching, resources, and conditions. In addition, the financial strain can result in higher taxes or a rise in public debt, which indicates negativity to the economy and can harm other important sections.

Secondly, low-income families do not always focus on or appreciate education. That is, free education can reduce responsibility in humans. Because usually people do not appreciate what is given for free. As a result, it could lead to the wastage of resources for free education. Instead of making education free, other forms of support may be more effective. For example, government can provide scholarships or financial aid at those have an interest and potential to study. It could lead to a decline in the quality of teaching, resources, and conditions.

In conclusion, I disagree with the view of making education free for poor families. This could place significant financial pressure on the government and other sectors as well. Instead of making education completely free for poor families, the government could provide financial aid to those who are genuinely capable and interested in studying.

In several countries, only few people have extrememly high annual incomes. These individuals should pay a higher rate of income tax. I strongly agree with the statement.
