It is believed that some companies are hiring candidates by considering their interpersonal skills rather than how many years of experience he has for the job. While this statement could be reasonable to a certain degree, I would find myself in partial disagreement on this matter for several reasons.
On the one hand, the idea that focusing on majorly personal traits while hiring applicants could be reasonable. The main reason is that employees’ behavior affects the quality of the company. In other words, almost every skill that is required can be easily possessed if the company hires someone who is self-motivated and disciplined. In contrast, gathering careless candidates with high background education would be much useless for the company. Therefore, personal traits seem to be more important.
Nevertheless, certain professions, such as surgeons and doctors, require an extensive educational foundation. To be specific, medicine and nursing require real professionals who have passed through the practical training in university because they involve human elements, and they need real-hand expertise. If, in contrast, they prioritize examining the behaviors of doctors during the hiring process, it could endanger lives, lead to some consequences.
All in all, during the process of hiring someone, soft skills must be considered first. However, I would find the idea short-sighted, due to the presence of some serious jobs that need hands-on intelligence.
